Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging - The Evolution of Client Needs: UPDATED

My professional speaking work continues to grow, and the demand to provide different topics have emerged. I have noticed that many clients begin the discovery conversation focused on having me provide LGBTQ+ speaking topics for their programs to support their employee resource groups (ERGs) or Business Resource Groups (BRGs). As the conversation evolves, it's become more common for clients to want to expand to a broader focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), in general.

2022 Technology and Systems for Small Businesses: Being Efficient

Through conversations with my SCORE mentors, a spreadsheet was created showing the current-state and future-state of the systems. This analysis also included the frequency of use. This spreadsheet helped to quantify the amount of time devoted to each task and system. From these insights, I identified ways to use certain systems for multiple tasks and streamline processes. It's often helpful to take a look at what we're spending our time doing as entrepreneurs, and what we may be able to delegate or eliminate.

Here are a few of the questions that I was asked during the speaking events.

Kayak Capsize and Leadership Development

Recently I was kayaking on Cape Cod and a huge gust of wind came out of no where! It has been 18 years since I have had an unplanned capsize in my kayak. I have taught kayaking for 10 years in the past and have a solid roll in case I tip over. This was a very unique situation. I was kayaking with some friends who are advanced paddlers in the Nauset Marsh in Orleans and Eastham, MA, USA.

Pandemic Silver Linings and Positive Psychology

The Pandemic continues to be quite challenging for most people. I am very thankful that there is a vaccine available, and grateful for all of the essential workers who have been working for the past year during COVID-19 to keep us safe and to provide us with needed services. During most challenging times, we can often reflect back and think about some good things that has happened. This is the silver lining, even as tragic as the pandemic has been.
