With clients in 9 US States and 4 countries, I travel some of the time. Striving for continuous learning, I often listen to podcasts and audio books, and watch vlogs that provide solutions, strategies, and motivation for running my small business, Sarah Scala Consulting. Here are 5 business Podcasts and Vlogs that I am currently listening to and recommend for entrepreneurs and business leaders.
Marie TV by Marie Forlio is a weekly video blog (VLOG) that comes out every Tuesday. Marie is an “entrepreneur, writer, philanthropist & unshakable optimist dedicated to helping you become the person you most want to be.” She often answers questions of entrepreneurs in her Q & A sessions or interviews top leaders from Oprah to Sir Richard Branson. Her savvy business tips each week give me ideas on how to grow and transform my business. Marie TV is appropriate for both men and women who want to advance their careers and companies. Marie also offers an 8-week interactive video-based training program, B School, that teaches effective online marketing strategies.
The Tim Ferriss Show by Tim Ferriss is a Podcast that is usually ranked as the #1 podcast on iTunes. I first became familiar with Tim’s work with his best seller, The 4-Hour Workweek, which I read in my late 20’s. Inspired by his ideas on how to create a location independent business, achieve financial independence early, and delegate tasks I don’t like to do, I have followed Tim’s podcast for a number of years. In each episode, Tim speaks with world class performers “to extract the tactics, tools, and routines you can use.” Tim asks the same interview questions of each guest, and has used these interviews to gather data to write more recent books, Tribe of Mentors and Tools of Titans, which are also excellent reads.
Masters of Scale with Reid Hoffman. Reid is a LinkedIn co-founder. Through this podcast, Reid uncovers how businesses go from zero to successful. This Podcast also commits to a 50-50 gender balance of guests, so you will hear from diverse leaders in these podcast interviews. The most recent podcast of Reid’s was with Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx. I enjoy Reid’s down to earth approach in these Podcasts, and recommend them to anyone considering entrepreneurship or who already has established a business.
Side Hustle by Chris Guillebeau is a daily 10-minute podcast sharing success stories of people in early stages of start up. Because I have enjoyed all of his other books, including The $100 Startup, Art of Nonconformity, Side Hustle, and The Happiness of Pursuit, I follow Chris’ podcast. It gives me a few minutes to be inspired and helps motivate me to keep driving and growing my 5-year old business. I recommend this to anyone who dreams of starting a business and isn’t yet ready to take the plunge, or for those of us who have moved into entrepreneurship.
I Will Teach You To Be Rich by Ramit Sethi is a podcast, blog and VLOG. His company, I Will Teach You to Be Rich, shares the name of his New York Times best seller. I have followed Ramit for a number of years and appreciate his no BS approach to managing money, and running a successful business. Ramit offers free tips on digital marketing, business strategy, and shared documented success stories, with 96% of his material being free. Particularly if you have an online business, I would recommend I Will Teach You To Be Rich.
