“I highly recommend Sarah Scala! For the past two years, Sarah has been an instructor at the Harvard Ed Portal teaching the workshop Emotional Intelligence for Work and Life. At the workshop, attendees learn to recognize and understand emotions in others and themselves, and how to use this awareness to manage behavior and build positive relationships. Sarah is engaging, knowledgeable and inclusive. Here are a few of the comments we received about Sarah and the workshop. "Great job! Excellent presentation - thought-provoking." "Good information, good pace, good partner exercises." "Great lecture!" Participants consistently want more time with her. She is a dependable partner. She is conscientious, organized and thorough. She is fastidious about ensuring everything is set for the workshop. Thank you to Sarah for presenting and to the wonderful DEI network at Siemens for allowing our ERG's to sponsor such events!” - Jessica L. Everest, USA National LGBTQ+ ERG Chair.

“After hearing Sarah present an Out and Equal Workshop, our BRG networks at Lockheed Martin chose to bring Sarah in for a phycological safety event. This gave employees the opportunity to focus on a topic that is very present in the workplace and her presentation provided a lot of insight and understanding. The dynamic that she used for the workshop encouraged active engagement and was well received by attendees. I look forward to being able to engage with Sarah for future events.” - Carly Danek, Quality Program Engineer, Lockheed Martin

“Through a wonderful turn of events Sarah and I got to know each other organically. After which our Aramark Pride ERG approached her for her LGBTQ+ Emotional Intelligence course. She was fully prepared in every way and helped us to be as well. The session was wonderful and well attended. It will now be a part of our company’s DEI library of recommended courses for all. Thanks Sarah!”
- Alyx Reinhart, PRIDE ERG Co-Chair, Global Telecom at ARAMARK

“Sarah and I were able to connect through my colleague, friend, and fellow co-chair of Aramark Pride. Their connection was fortuitous in that we were able arrange for Sarah to present a course in LGBTQ Emotional Intelligence as part of Aramark Pride's Pride Month programming with helpful and practical thought experiments, engaging style, and useful takeaways. The materials presented were beneficial to our ERG community and to the company in general. I plan to apply my learnings to relationships both at work and away from work. “I had the pleasure of working with Sarah Scala on a change management and team building initiative with the Stonyfield Executive Team. In working with our team, Sarah spent the time upfront to really understand our business and organizational strengths and challenges, and then she worked with us to design an approach that made sense within that context. Sarah brings extensive organization development expertise, and I particularly appreciate her openness to applying this expertise in unique ways based on the needs of her specific clients, rather than with a one-size-fits-all program. “Sarah did a great job with a course entitle "Difficult Conversations" that was used with ChromaWomen, a diversity interest network group for women we have established at Chroma Technology. What impressed me was Sarah's interest in understanding the issue we were trying to address, as well as wanting to understand our work place. The content was customized to meet the needs of the team. She developed a version that we did as an interactive video meeting primarily for those working from home, and we had an in person session with our women production employees. Beth Israel Lahey Health / New England Baptist Hospital

The Leadership at my hospital provides a good variety of professional coaching. I had the opportunity to take the Emotional Intelligence Assessment and work one-on-one with Sarah. I have had other coaching experiences in the past and I’ve often felt coaching can be about pushing a one size fits all change. Sarah’s approach is to allow you to be yourself and take pride in your accomplishments, but also to better ‘polish’ some facets of your skill set. I believe this work with Sarah has been by far the most helpful, effective, and lasting I’ve participated in. Sarah builds great rapport, is non-judgmental, and helps you discover potential new practices. She provides concrete supportive tools, writings, and videos as specific topics or experiences come up in conversation. She allows you to lead as you explore different ways of thinking about management and outcomes, and is committed to making sure you feel like you are getting something from every session. Through working with Sarah I have a renewed commitment to my goals, coupled with a sustainable and effective practice to better shape my leadership skills."
- Tracy Harris, Director Coding and Patient Financial Services, New England Baptist Hospital

“I worked with Sarah Scala when she facilitated a workshop for our firm’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative about “The Real Costs of Getting Workplace Diversity & Inclusion Wrong.” Her compassionate, open, and energetic style invited engagement, questions, and insight for all participants. Sarah’s approach showed clearly why diversity and inclusion is not simply a “check the box” activity, but has real, bottom-line impact. She showed simple, commonsense ways to build more diversity within an organization, and more importantly, how to create an inclusive environment where diverse individuals can be who they authentically are. Sarah was also great to work with! She was a consummate professional who kept her commitments and was also flexible and understanding in meeting our needs and concerns. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to open a conversation about building diversity, equity, and inclusion in their organization.” - Former Communications Lead, Michael Baker International

SIMON PEARCE

“Due to a new executive leadership team that has aggressive plans for revenue growth, Simon Pearce needed to develop a well trained workforce at a faster rate.  To support this need, we partnered with Sarah A. Scala Consulting to build our first ever Glassblower Apprenticeship Program. Sarah Scala designed and facilitated the Train the Trainer portion of this project, as well as provided consulting to support and share ideas for training the new apprentices.  The purpose of the Train the Trainer workshop was to build consistent teaching skills and processes with our master glassblowers.  We had participants from all three of our production facilities in this workshop, which also allowed for networking and sharing of best practices.

The two-day Train the Trainer program included an assessment defining people’s learning preferences, as well as lessons on facilitation and teaching skills.  Our master glassblowers became familiar with these new methods and they practiced using new skills practicing through real life scenarios while receiving immediate feedback.  It was quite experiential!  By the end of the two days, the glassblowers were confident in their ability to train, in addition to becoming familiar with the measurement, evaluation, and compensation tools that were being used to support this change.

Our glassblowers are the heart and soul of Simon Pearce. This experience sent a clear message that management is investing in them because we value their hard work and dedication. Feedback from participants and their evaluation of the workshop was very positive and appreciative. The glassblowers connected with Sarah right from the start. Her down-to-earth and humorous teaching style, coupled with her deep knowledge on the subject, quickly earned her credibility. Sarah also strove to understand her audience by spending several hours learning to blow glass herself! The participants walked away from the workshop quite proud, excited and eager to pass on both their passion and their unique skill on to a whole new generation of talent. We have just completed our 8-week Apprenticeship Program which far exceeded both management’s and the glassblower trainers’ expectations. It could simply not have been so successful without Sarah’s deep consultative expertise and enthusiasm for our critical training initiative!”

ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY LEADER, LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

"It is with pleasure and gratitude that I share comments on my experience with Sarah Scala. I met Sarah through a friend at King Arthur Flour, in Norwich Vermont, where Sarah’s consulting is well know and respected. I am a business and arts professional, gainfully employed, who needed an update to both my resume, as well as guidance as to how to migrate my professional information into a virtual platform. After an initial, informal conversation, Sarah and I agreed to work together to polish my professional presentation.Sarah approaches her work as collaboration, and encourages you to work diligently to achieve your desired results. Every step of the process Sarah is clear, concise and gently diplomatic in her suggestions. With enthusiasm, intelligence, and perseverance Sarah guided me expertly to achieve my desired results. I now have a much higher level of confidence in my professional profile.  I am very happy to give Sarah my highest recommendation for anyone seeking professional consultations and career guidance."  - James H.

The breakout sessions to talk with peers in the class was a fun way to practice the topics learned. - Doug Halpert, P.E., Chair Planning Committee, New England Institute of Transportation Engineers

Thank you for presenting. As always it exceeded our expectations; and was a great interactive, learning experience allowing time to "practice" the concepts you shared. The workbook was a great compliment and "takeaway."
